James Neuman CWPC

Born and raised in Camillus, N.Y. James has competed since high school in culinary competitions, receiving scholarships for Culinary Arts programs through the competitions and recipe contests.  James was Pastry Chef at The Inn Between restaurant in Camillus, NY (1991 – 1999) and First Cook / Banquet Pastry Chef at the Lafayette Golf and Country Club in Syracuse, NY (1995-1999).  In 1996, James represented New York State in an ACF Juniors competition receiving both a Bronze and Silver Medal.  In January 1999, James moved to Rochester, NY and joined the Genesee Valley Club Culinary Team as First Cook.  He was promoted to Pastry Chef two years later.  James achieved certification in 2004 from the ACF as a Working Pastry Chef. 

From 2002 through 2008 James has medaled in every one of the annual ACF Sanctioned Competitions he has participated in, receiving gold, silver and bronze medals.  He competed in the 2001 annual Chocolate Ball competition in Rochester, NY, a prestigious charitable fundraiser, and won the Grand Prize and three Gold Medals.  James again participated in 2003, 2006, and 2007 winning gold and silver medals.  In 2008, James was nominated as ACF North East Regional Pastry Chef of the Year.James has over 18 years of professional culinary experience in food preparation and management.  He is currently responsible for all aspects of the Genesee Valley Club’s pastry kitchen including production, management, promotion, and sales, two full service restaurants and the banquet operation with annual revenue of over 3 million dollars.  He demonstrates his commitment to professional development and skill advancement by his frequent participation in ACF Chapter presentations.  He is currently a Trustee on the Board of the Greater Rochester Chefs and Cooks Association and has acted as a Judge for the Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America.  He continues to amaze the membership of the Genesee Valley Club with his Sugar Showpieces, Chocolate Sculptures, and Artisan Bread production.
