The Chapter board recommends the following changes to the chapter's by-laws: Additions are shown in Italics deletions are shown as underlined.

Article Three: Chef of the Year
This may be an annual award for outstanding achievement in this association and the culinary profession, presented at a fund-raising dinner for the educational scholarship fund.  This honor shall be shared by all former Chefs of the Year in respect for service to our Association.  Nominations and election shall follow format set for election of officers.

  • A: Qualifications:

  • Active member in good standing at least five years

  • At least three (3) years in local chapter

  • A certified cook or higher

  • Must have completed fifteen (15) ten (10)of the following:

1. A chapter elected officer
2. Have an article written about the chef mentioning ACF
3. Chairperson of a standing Committee
4.Chairperson of an ad hoc committee that fills its mission
5.Chef d cuisine at a chapter event
6.Attended a regional conference, National Convention or Regional forum
7.Attended a National Convention
8.Attended a minimum of Seven (7) General chapter  meetings during the current year (excludes board meetings and chapter events)
9.Have an article, about food or our industry,  by the member published outside the chapter newsletter
10.Serve as a chapter President
11.Be a member of a national committee
12.Attend a regional forum
13.Hosted a chapter event
14.Do a documented demonstration for the junior members
15.Do a demonstration at a food show
16.Have competed in an ACF sanctioned culinary competition
17.Have received a medal at an ACF sanctioned culinary competition
18.Present a demonstration at a meeting
19.Sign up three (3) Five (5) new members
20.Sign up more than ten new members
21.Have performed documented public service
22.Have an ACF Apprentice or have mentored a junior member
23.Be certified at CSC or higher
24.Be certified at CEC or higher
25.Do a Career day presentation
26.Participate at a chapter event in a non culinary or culinary capacity
27.Participate in culinary preparation at a chapter event
28.Serve as a member of a standing or ad hoc committee that fulfills its mission 
29.Serve as a member of an ad hoc committee
30. Receive a major award from an allied association

B: The candidate will be required to complete a job appropriate 'mystery basket' at a chapter meeting.

This criteria will be in effect for elections held after Jan 1, 2001.


C: Former Chefs of the Year may not be re-nominated for five (5) years.
      No one on the nominating committee may be nominated.
D: Award may be giving each year at dinner in their honor.  Chef shall receive a numbered medal from American Culinary Federation. Name to be engraved on traveling trophy and may be displayed by employer's establishment till one (1) month before the next dinner.

In summation the changes are:

Delete lines 3, 4, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 18, 20, 23, 27 and 29

Delete the word "junior" from line 14

ADD  The word "elected" to line 1
The phrase "National Convention or Regional Forum" to line 6
The phrases "General chapter meetings"  and "(excludes board meetings and chapter events)" to line 8
The phrase "Outside the chapter newsletter" to line 9
The word "documented" to line 14
The phrase " or culinary capacity" to line 26
The phrases " or ad hoc" and  "that fulfills its mission" to both line 28
The letter "B:" preceding "The candidate will be required to complete a job appropriate 'mystery basket' at a chapter meeting"

Replace the number Three (3) with Five (5) in line 19

Renumber all lines 1 to 19

Change the phrase "These By-laws last were amended June 6, 2000"  to reflect the correct date these changes are approved by the membership.

These changes were a decision of the board at its regularly scheduled meeting February, 10, 2004. They will be presented to the membership at the general meeting February 24, 2004.
